Chinese Dating Game Ends In Tragedy
A Chinese man who had five wives had to ween his way down to one, as the global economic meltdown® has even started to affect polygamists.
The rich entrepreneur decided he was four wives too top heavy and devised a plan to get rid of them–by holding a contest to see which one to keep.
You can imagine that it didn’t turn out well, and I believe the saying to back me up is: A woman scorned is worth two in the bush:
The contest took a tragic turn when one of the mistresses, who was eliminated based on her looks, drove her former lover and the four other women off a mountain road in an apparent fit of anger, the Shanghai Daily reported.
The driver died in the December 6 crash while the man and four other women were hospitalised, the report said.
Had any Hollyweird producer heard of this contest, I’m sure it would have become a prime time reality show:
Yu was eliminated in the first-round beauty competition and a woman surnamed Liu eventually won after dominating the drinking round, the report said.
When Fan told Yu she was dismissed and that he was selling her apartment, she decided to exact revenge during a group outing.
After the accident Fan paid Yu’s parents 580,000 yuan as compensation for her death. His wife divorced him after learning of his affairs, the report said, adding the other four mistresses also left him.
In a way, I’m a fan of Fan.
The man had it all–money, power, women. But when it was all over, what was he left with? Probably still a lot of money, probably still a ton of power, and a fresh slate in which to start a new life over again. Plus he has a really cool story about the time he made women vie for his love by playing drinking games.
In other words, Fan has led, and is leading a life that none us mere mortals will ever lead. Sure, the guy that safely landed that jet in the Hudson a few weeks back is a hero, but he’s no Fan. Oh no, he’s no Fan.

Wait, so the serial philanderer has lost everything after all of this? No justice, no piece!
He’s extra selfish, anyway, as the proportion of males to females in China is skewed.
