The Illusionist VS The Prestige
I recently saw a couple of magician movies, they were the same, yet different. The same in the way that they both center around magic and illusion, different in regard that one was good and one was bad. Let’s explore both of these movies now, shall we?
The Prestige-Robert and Alfred are rival magicians. When Alfred performs the ultimate magic trick, Robert tries desperately to find out the secret to the trick.
The Illusionist-In turn-of-the-century Vienna, a magician (Norton) uses his abilities to secure the love of a woman far above his social standing.
The Prestige starred Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale, two completely unlikable magicians, who, if they had true magical powers, would have turned themselves into humans with an ounce of personality and a dash of charisma.
The Illusionist stars Ed Norton. Ed Norton is fucking great.
The Prestige also stars Scarlett Johannson, who can’t act, has a decent set of puppies, but has a face like a horse.
The Illusionist also stars Jessica Biel, who is just a slightly better actress than Scarlett Johannson, but has an apes face.
The Prestige is such a long movie that by the time it ended I thought it had me in its trance. I was wrong, I was in a sleep coma.
The Illusionist is an average length movie that kept my attention right to the end.
The Prestige could have been good if it had a few minor adjustments…like a decent script, writers, actors/actresses, editing, compositing, complete post and pre-production.
The Illusionist, well worth the $2 we spent on the illegal pirated movie from the den of Chinese thieves at the Atlantic Mall.
To recap-The Prestige sucks the left one. The Illusionist, on the other hand, kicks The Prestige in the face and then spits on it *hhhhhuck ptewwwweeee*. Go see The Illusionist and be prepared for super-happy-awesome-funtime.
