It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

Have you ever heard the line, “it’s like every day is Christmas?” Me either, I just made it up. However, Sears and other greedy conglomorates are applying the “every day is Christmas” strategy by starting its Christmas season right now:

A colorful Christmas display sits inside the Castleton Square Mall Sears store where shoppers bustle about looking for end-of-summer deals on grills and lawnmowers.

“Beat the holiday rush,” Sears urges in a display called Christmas Lane.

Way before the traditional Halloween and Thanksgiving kickoffs, retailers such as Toys R Us, Kmart and Hallmark have started pushing Christmas sales, hoping not only to help hard-hit consumers spread out their spending but also to get their money before competitors do.

I know that Christmas has been the only thing on my mind lately. Just tonight as I was taking Clare for a walk with TLDG, as the sweat poured down my neck from the 85 degree heat, and right before I got bit by a marauding horde of mosquito’s, I thought to myself, “Man, I best be getting over to Sears and buy that Slap Chop for my ma for Christmas before they’re all sold out. After all, Christmas is but a mere 1/3 of a year away.”

Thank you greedy box-stores for reminding me what Christmas is all about.

The devils prepare us for Christmas and huntin’ season isn’t even upon us yet!

Where, oh where, are the great Fall sales of hunting supplies that used to grace the shelves of stores when I was young. In Wal-Mart yesterday, they didn’t have a single thing relating to HS, although it starts here on the tenth of Sept.

But Christmas, they start selling four months in advance!

btw, wasn’t Christmas originally about someone other than Santa Claus, a fat German I never really cared for?

Am I the only one that finds it a but suspicious that hunting season starts the same time school does? Is it because after being trapped in the house with your kids all summer you are itching to kill something?
