GM, GE & The Obama Administration – The Perfect Circle Jerk

When people say to The Mayor that no one wants to buy the Chevy Volt, that it is too expensive, I say to them “hogwash”, the Obama administration and its lackey media mouthpieces are buying them up by the tens of thousands…on your dime, of course:
President Barack Obama’s administration has bought almost a fourth of the Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co. hybrid vehicles sold since he took office, accelerating federal purchases as consumer demand wanes.
The U.S. General Services Administration, which runs the government fleet, bought at least 14,584 hybrid vehicles in the past two fiscal years, or about 10 percent of 145,473 vehicles the agency purchased in that period, according to sales data obtained by Bloomberg under a Freedom of Information Act request. In fiscal 2008, hybrids accounted for less than 1 percent of government purchases, the data showed.
I’m not a mathematician, but I do have a cool pocket protector and an abacus which tells me that at 40K a shot, the Obama administration just bought about $600 million in electric vehicles. While Ford isn’t on the gov’t dole, GM is and their piece of the pie works out to be about $400 million. Not bad for a car that the public has no interest in.
But it doesn’t stop there, it never does. Another welfare case, this time GE, is also buying up the Volt by the tens of thousands:
GE will begin with an initial purchase of 12,000 vehicles from General Motor Co., starting with Chevy Volt in 2011.
So what we have here is GE, a company that was subsidized via billions upon billions upon billions of dollars of taxpayer money, buying cars from a government run company that was also propped up with tens of billions of taxpayer money. The UAW was awarded a huge chunk of the new GM by the Obama administration, and GE’s media arm is the mouthpiece for the Obama administration via MSNBC and other outlets.
So let’s look at this again – GE – a company that was given tens of billions of dollars in taxpayer stimulus money, the same company that is one of the many mouthpieces for the Obama administration, is buying billions of dollars in electric vehicles from a propped up, government-run auto company whose unions were given a huge chunk of the company by Obama and are firmly in Obama’s pocket. Then, days before GM’s IPO, they announce they made a “profit” of $2 billion last quarter, when in fact most of that money was from the government that runs their own company.
Am I missing something?
Oh right, I am – When GM first declared bankruptcy, instead of their assets being sold off and the proceeds going to pay off debt obligations to the bondholders, and remaining equity being given to the shareholders, the government ditched bankruptcy protocol, and allowed the sale of all of old GMs assets to the new GM for nothing, screwing investors out of their rightful proceeds.
Now, am I missing something?

There are two mentions of “GM” which should, I think, be changed to “GE”.
