Praying That The Meeks Shall Not Inherit The Earth

The Mayor meant to post this a few week’s back when it came out, but I was far too busy dying. But I’m better now, much, much better. Hey, is that blood in my stool?

Rev. James Meeks, candidate for Mayor of Chicago, stated a few weeks back that minority contracts that the city dishes out should only go to blacks:

“The word ‘minority’ from our standpoint should mean African American. I don’t think women, Asians and Hispanics should be able to use that title,” he said. “That’s why our numbers cannot improve — because we use women, Asians and Hispanics who are not people of color, who are not people who have been discriminated against.”

When it comes to people that are being discriminated against, there can only be one group. Everyone else can go fly a non-coloured kite.

A few hours after making that statement, Meeks set out to clarify his remarks, because he knew not what he sayeth:

Hours after making those remarks, Meeks back-tracked by saying he would only exclude white women if elected mayor.

“I don’t believe white women should be considered in that count ….You have white women in the category. They receive contracts. Then, white men receive contracts. Where does that leave everybody else?” he told Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32 news.

If you’re keeping score, the Asians and Hispanics are now cool in the eyes of Rev. Meeks, it’s those white bitches that are keeping the brothas down.

On cue, minutes after the good Rev made his remarks, various activist cockroaches that rely on handouts and preferential treatment scurried out from under the sink to pipe up about what Meek’s had to say:

Hedy Ratner, co-president of the Women’s Business Development Center, was already “furious” at Meeks. She argued Thursday that, if anything, the 5 percent set-aside for women “should be higher.”

“Is he saying that this should be an African-American city with policies only for African Americans? I’m surprised that a candidate for mayor who wants to represent the entire city would exclude a majority of its citizens,” she said.

How could that woman head a women’s development center, she doesn’t even hyphenate her name.

The outrage didn’t stop there, however:

Paul Cerpa, executive director of the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA), said the federal government has made it clear that the “presumptive group” of those historically discriminated against includes blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Native Americans and “women, regardless of ethnicity.”

“To draw the line in the sand and say, ‘This is only mine — not yours’ doesn’t allow everyone to play in the sandbox,” Cerpa said.

A sandbox that was built on the labour of slaves, no doubt.

It seems everyone is angry at Meek’s because he wants to take away a slice of their pie. Meek’s wants more pie, but the pie-takers don’t want to give up their share, heck, they hardly have enough pie as it is. How can you take my pie when I have so little? Hell, we need even MORE pie. Don’t you see we’ve been discriminated against, too?

No one from the discriminated class would have had a problem if Meek’s had proposed raising the ceiling as to how much pie should be given to the discriminated. If Meek’s had proposed that instead of 50% of city projects go to minorities, it should be closer to 70%, then yes, Meek’s is a visionary, he understands the plight of the downtrodden. But Meek’s made the mistake of trying to take the pie of other minority groups instead of just taking more pie from white guys. What are ya, new?

All this outrage, but not one single soul is outraged that contracts are being awarded based solely on skin colour and sexual orientation. Abilityism be damned, if you were born not white please come to the trough and help yourself.

Also keep in mind that in Chicago, women and blacks are the majority, meaning, if these city contracts are to be dished out based on minority status, then blacks and women should get next to nothing. Give all that cash to the American Indian and that dude from North East Latvia.

  1. Mr Fnortner Says:

We have racism and sexism, as you no doubt know, precisely because an industry has grown up around securing and administering perks for minorities. There is money and power to be had in keeping racism and sexism alive, so government officials continue their endeavors to please those who vote for a living. Not surprisingly, the very efforts to assist create a climate of dependency among those so assisted. Fighting racism and sexism by government fiat entrenches racism and sexism, and is supremely harmful.

  2. The Mayor Says:

Along the same line – then the perks become entitlements. And try to take an entitlement away from a protected group. Good luck with that.
