The [C]onservative Party

Did you catch the election fever on that hot, sweaty Tuesday of March 22, 2011? That unseasonable warmth was necessary and sufficient proof for Global Warming. I thought about this as I had a smoke before attending a political meeting, to listen to a speaker. A spring election was in the air; it was not until the morning that winter came back. Five centimeters of snow, and I watched a car plow into another at the skating rink that is Woodbine and Danforth. Are you ready for a spring election? What of the Conservative party? Are they attractive to the voters? For that matter, what do they stand for? When you talk to one, they may look XX, but are they really XY? It is like buying a used car, really, or an antique sofa. The pillows are shapely and new, but they do not match the armrests. Has a cactus been sitting there? So, tell me Fenris, about the party of squares and WASP’s.

I asked two questions at the meeting.

Can you name a multi-cultural state from the historic record that worked?. The answer is The Turkish Empire. Great. I now know this guy is not a socialist. The bolshevik thinkers I was exposed to throughout public education were of a diversity of dislike and class hatred for the Turkish Empire. The answerer is a conservative.

Canada is no longer a Christian country. The answer is no; those products of a generation of anti-Christian mockery in our schools, arts, and media are the exact same old same old as was found in Anglican parishes of the 1970’s. Those non Christians that do exist are non-secular.

No brownshirts were in attendance.
I thought the conservatives were the party of white privilege? What about the Imperialist wing of the party? The meeting was not opened with the singing of God Save the Queen, nor was the use of military force suggested as a means to further foreign policy. There was no muttering about Abortion is Murder, calls for the building of Debtors Prisons, a return to Silver and Gold for currency, repeal of the Child Labor Law, and demands for settlements of traditional Canadian land claims to the Michigan, Oregon, and Louisiana territories.

What can I say. I think that the NDP will be the real winner of this next snow filled Spring Election, at the expense of the Liberals. At the least you know where you stand with them. As for the Tories, I will drown my reason with Turkish Delight and smoke hashish in a brothel before I vote.
