I just ordered my Somali Pirate T-shirt on ebay. When it comes in, after the Thanksgiving holidays of course, I plan to join a pirate ship off the coast of Somalia. If I don’t return I bequeath my blog spot to my dog, Molly.

On behalf of Mike, I want to apologize to you Red Five. I asked Mike not to write any more of his anti-Somalia-pirate pieces, but it’s obvious he didn’t listen.

I also find it curious that Mike has only written about Somali pirates and has never written a word about Ethiopian or Libyan pirates. I think that speaks volumes.

“…that not all Somalis are pirates, and not all pirates are Somali…”

I think that’s why the media use the phrase “Somali pirates”, to distinguish them from “Libyan pirates” or “Ethiopian pirates”. The phrase simply means that these are pirates who hail from Somalia, or are Somalis who engage in piratical activities. It is very specific, and certainly doesn’t say that all pirates are Somalis or that all Somalis are pirates; just that there are some Somalis who are pirates, and that there are some pirates who come from Somalia.

Our media need to change to reflect this new self-actualization. I suggest Pirates of the Caribbean 4 replace Eurocentric Keira Knightley with model Iman, and that the setting change to the Gulf of Oman. Together, we will rewrite history the way it was meant to happen!
