Lady Gaga met Queen Elizabeth backstage after a show at the Royal Variety Performance in Blackpool, U.K. earlier this week. It is reported that Lady Gaga curtsied to the Queen and the Royal Highness got quite a kick out of her. I know that technically Lady Gaga is still alive and that this week has been dedicated to those who have met the Queen and later passed away, but I have a feeling Elizabeth will outlast Lady Gaga, too.

I love this picture. I always get a laugh at seeing Ronald Reagan chuckling it up over something the Queen said.

What was Ronnie laughing so hard at, you ask? Well, let me tells ya…

It was 1983 and the Reagan’s were hosting a state dinner in San Francisco. The Queen was saying that she knew the Puritans brought a lot of customs over to the new world from England, but since she’d been slogging around in the rain in California, (rain and rain and rain), she’d had no idea they also brought over the rotten weather.

And Ronnie busted a gut.

I find this one of the more interesting Queen/US Presidents picture because it actually looks like Kennedy was giving the bang-bang finger to either the Queen or someone in the audience. I believe that’s what’s called ”foreshadowing”. Then again, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis looks like she’s holding a cell phone, and considering this picture was taken around 1962, that would mean Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis is/was some sort of time traveller. But if that was true, you would figure she would have tried to avoid Dallas like the plague. Wow, I’m starting to get really freaked out here. Hold me, please.

Chris pointed out in the comments to yesterday’s Queen Elizabeth Will Outlast Us All Week  post that the Queen is the only current head of state that is a World War 2 veteran. I’m trying to think who was the last current head of state that was a WW2 veteran that isn’t the Queen, and all I could come up with was George H.W. Bush. I may possibly be correct.

Here’s a picture of Queen Elizabeth with Harry Truman. Truman served as an artillery officer in WW1, the only President to ever see combat in the Great War. I think Ike also served, but he trained tank crews state-side.

I’m not sure if this is true, but I heard that Queen Elizabeth really liked Harry Truman because Truman authorized the use of not one, but two atom bombs on Japan to end the war. I’m not sure if my source is reputable, especially considering my source is really just a bunch of voices screaming at me from the back of my head.

Queen Elizabeth was born in 1926 and has outlasted, or out-sat, 11 US Presidents. While it’s not a death sentence to get your picture taken with the Queen if you’re a US President, only 5 out of the 11 that did get their picture taken with her are still alive.
